A. O. Smith 2.5" x 10" 5-Micron Universal Sediment Filter 2-Pack — polypropylene cartridges for whole-house systems

The A. O. Smith 2.5" x 10" 5-micron universal sediment filter is a replaceable polypropylene cartridge designed to trap fine sediment and protect whole-house water systems.

This two-pack of replacement cartridges fits A. O. Smith whole-house housings (including AO-WH-PRE and AO-WH-PREV), several Whirlpool models and many other common filtration systems. Each filter uses a 5-micron rating to capture small suspended particles that can cloud water and cause buildup in pipes and appliances. The cartridges are intended for routine swapping every few months and are compatible with standard 2.5" x 10" housings, making them a practical, low-effort way to help maintain consistent water flow and cleaner fixtures throughout the home.

How does this filter help keep household water clearer?

The 5-micron polypropylene media traps particles smaller than what you can typically see, including sand, silt and rust fragments. By removing these solids at the point they enter your plumbing, the filter helps reduce cloudiness and sediment in water used for showers, laundry and dishwashing.

• Catches sediment down to 5 microns for visibly clearer water.
• Reduces particulate load before water reaches faucets and appliances.
• Polypropylene media resists bacterial growth and retains structure when wet.

Will this cartridge fit my existing whole-house system?

These cartridges are made to the common 2.5" x 10" standard used by many manufacturers, including specific compatibility with A. O. Smith AO-WH-PRE and AO-WH-PREV housings and Whirlpool WHKF series models. Check your current filter housing size and model list to confirm fit before ordering.

• Standard 2.5" x 10" dimensions match most residential housings.
• Works with AO-WH-PRE, AO-WH-PREV and many Whirlpool housings.
• Compatible with other brands using the same cartridge size and end-cap style.

How often should I replace these filters and how easy is the change?

Replace the cartridge approximately every three months under normal conditions, or sooner if you notice reduced water pressure. Swapping cartridges is a straightforward homeowner task: shut off the feed, relieve pressure, remove the housing, and insert the new cartridge—no specialized tools or plumbing services are normally required.

• Recommended replacement interval: about 3 months, depending on water quality.
• Replace earlier if you detect decreased flow or visible clogging.
• Tool-free routine for most standard housings; quick twist-open style on common systems.

What performance certifications and practical benefits can I expect?

Certain A. O. Smith models using this cartridge have undergone third-party testing for particulate reduction, verifying performance for sediment control. Beyond clearer water, using a sediment cartridge helps reduce strain and wear on downstream fixtures, water-using appliances and fine-screen filtration stages.

• Tested to meet particulate reduction standards in applicable model configurations.
• Helps protect water heaters, washing machines and faucets from sediment wear.
• Comes as a convenient two-pack for scheduled swaps and backup supply.

Who this is for: Homeowners with standard 2.5" x 10" whole-house filtration housings who want an affordable, easy-to-install sediment cartridge to improve water clarity and help protect plumbing and appliances. It suits anyone replacing worn or clogged sediment stages, those maintaining routine filter schedules, or customers upgrading to a certified 5-micron polypropylene filtration solution.
