Adena Montessori Object Permanence Box 3-Ball Set with Tray — Montessori toy for 6–24 months, textured balls & fine-motor practice

The Adena Montessori Object Permanence Box with Tray and Three Balls is a compact developmental toy that teaches object permanence, encourages fine motor practice, and introduces different textures for babies aged about 6–24 months.

This small, well-built set uses a covered box with a drop door, a matching tray, and three differently textured balls (wood, plastic, and soft EVA) to create simple cause-and-effect play that supports early cognitive growth. Its brightly colored parts attract infants’ attention while the sensible size and sturdy materials make it safe for repeated exploration. The design follows Montessori principles: letting a child discover by doing, building concentration, and reinforcing hand-eye coordination.

How does this toy help a baby understand object permanence?

The box-and-door design shows babies that objects still exist even when hidden. When a ball is dropped and the tray reveals the ball again, infants experience repeated, predictable outcomes that strengthen memory and understanding.

• Covered box with a functioning door for hiding and revealing objects.
• Three balls provide repeated trials to reinforce the concept.
• Clear, simple actions that invite independent play and discovery.

What fine motor and sensory skills does the set develop?

Each ball is a different material—wood, plastic, and soft EVA—so babies learn to grasp and manipulate varied textures and weights. Reaching, picking up, and inserting the balls into the slot builds coordination, pincer control, and bilateral hand use.

• Wooden ball improves grip control with natural texture.
• Plastic ball offers smooth surface and visual contrast.
• Soft EVA ball introduces compressible, safe tactile feedback.
• Tray and slot sizing encourage targeted placement and release.

Is this toy durable and safe for everyday baby play?

The parts are made from robust child-friendly materials that resist wear from repeated drops and handling. Rounded edges, non-toxic finishes, and a simple construction reduce choking risks while keeping the piece easy to clean after messy play.

• Sturdy wooden box and tray for long-lasting use.
• Non-toxic colors and smooth finishes for safer handling.
• Large ball dimensions prevent swallowing hazards.

How can parents introduce and extend play with this set?

Start by demonstrating the drop-and-open routine, then let the child repeat it independently. As skills grow, vary the sequence, hide multiple balls, or combine with other Montessori toys to extend attention span and problem-solving.

• Model the action once or twice, then step back for independent attempts.
• Encourage naming colors and counting as the child progresses.
• Pair with simple sorting or stacking toys to build sequencing skills.
