Athlon Optics Midas UHD 8x42 Binoculars — Grey, ED Glass and ESP Coatings, 17.2mm Eye Relief

Athlon Optics Midas UHD 8x42 binoculars are a high-clarity, lightweight optic built for hunting, birding and outdoor observation with ED glass, ESP dielectric coatings and a roomy 17.2 mm eye relief.

These 8x42 Midas UHD binoculars balance bright optics and comfortable ergonomics for adults and older kids who want dependable performance in the field. The 8x magnification and 42 mm objectives deliver a wide, stable view while Athlon’s ED glass, fully multi-coated optics and phase-corrected Bak-4 prisms focus on contrast, color fidelity and minimal chromatic aberration. Weatherproof construction and a close focus under 6.5 feet round out a package designed for everything from glassing ridgelines to watching backyard feeders.

How do these binoculars perform in low light and dawn/dusk conditions?

The 42 mm objective lenses plus advanced fully multi-coated surfaces and ESP dielectric prism coatings maximize light transmission for brighter images in twilight. ED glass reduces color fringing so low-light detail appears cleaner and more natural.

• 42 mm objectives gather ample light for early morning and late evening use
• Advanced FMC improves overall brightness and color across the field
• ESP dielectric coatings reflect over 99% of light for improved contrast
• Bak-4 prisms maintain image edge-to-edge sharpness

Can someone who wears glasses use the Midas UHD comfortably?

Yes. With 17.2 mm of eye relief and adjustable eyecups, these binoculars accommodate glasses wearers while still providing a full field of view. The twist-up eyecups lock at different positions for stable eye placement.

• 17.2 mm eye relief preserves sightlines for eyeglass users
• Twist-up rubber eyecups for repeatable, comfortable eye alignment
• Interpupillary distance adjusts from 57 mm to 74 mm to suit face shape

What kind of image quality and optical treatments are included?

The Midas UHD combines ED glass with phase-corrected Bak-4 prisms and multi-layer dielectric coatings to reduce chromatic aberration and boost contrast. The result is sharper, truer-color images with improved resolution across the viewing field.

• ED glass minimizes color fringing and improves clarity
• Phase-corrected prisms increase resolution and contrast
• ESP dielectric coatings reflect more than 99% of light for accurate color
• Advanced fully multi-coated lenses enhance transmission and brightness

How close can I focus and what is the field of view like for scanning?

These binoculars focus down to about 2 meters (6.5 ft), letting you inspect nearby subjects and feeders. The 8.1° angular field translates to approximately 426 feet at 1,000 yards (144 meters at 1,000 meters), giving a wide scene for scanning and following moving targets.

• Close focus: 2 m / 6.5 ft for near-object detail
• Field of view: 426 ft @ 1000 yards (144 m @ 1000 m)
• 8x magnification for steady handheld viewing with stable image

Who is this for? The Athlon Optics Midas UHD 8x42 binoculars are aimed at outdoor enthusiasts who want a reliable, multipurpose optic: hunters needing dawn/dusk performance, birdwatchers wanting sharp color and close focus, hikers seeking lightweight gear, and parents introducing older kids to optics. They suit anyone who values bright images, minimal chromatic fringing and comfortable eye relief in a weather-resistant package.
