The Baratza Encore ESP Coffee Grinder ZCG495BLK is a compact, award-winning electric grinder built for consistent, adjustable espresso and filter grinds at home.

The Encore ESP pairs Baratza’s trusted burr technology with a dual-range adjustment system so you can dial in fine, stable espresso grounds or coarser settings for pour-over and drip. This model in black fits on kitchen counters and in small coffee stations while offering a level of grind control that serious home brewers expect.

How precise is the grind adjustment for espresso?

The Encore ESP uses a dual-range adjustment mechanism with 40 distinct steps. Micro-steps (#1–20) offer fine resolution for espresso dialing, helping you tune extraction by small increments without guesswork. The tactile hopper twist makes moving between settings quick and repeatable.

• 40 total grind settings across micro and macro ranges
• #1–20 for high-resolution espresso adjustments
• Front-mounted pulse button for controlled bursts
• Single-handed hopper twist to change settings smoothly

What makes the burrs and motor reliable?

Baratza equips the Encore ESP with 40mm hardened alloy steel burrs manufactured in Liechtenstein, supported by a durable DC motor. This combination promotes consistent grind size and long service life, minimizing chatter and maintaining sharpness over time. Backed by Baratza’s service and warranty, replacement parts and support are readily available if needed.

• 40mm hardened alloy steel burrs for even particle distribution
• DC motor tuned for household use and longevity
• Redesigned quick-release burr mount for easy maintenance
• Warranty and global support from Baratza

How easy is it to clean and operate daily?

The Encore ESP focuses on convenience: a quick-release burr system removes without disassembling the entire grinder, and a front-mounted pulse switch simplifies short grinding cycles. Routine cleaning takes only a few minutes, and the intuitive controls make repeatable dosing straightforward for morning routines or multi-user kitchens.

• Quick-release burr mounts for fast cleaning
• Pulse button and on/off switch for simple operation
• Compact footprint suited for small counters
• No special tools required for routine maintenance

What brewing methods can this grinder handle?

The dual-range adjustment is designed to cover fine espresso through medium-to-coarse grind sizes for filter methods. While the Encore ESP excels at espresso and pour-over, its step range and burr geometry also suit Aeropress, French press, and drip coffeemakers when dialed appropriately.

• Micro-range for classic espresso and fine settings
• Macro-range for pour-over, drip, and medium-coarse brews
• Tunable for Aeropress and short immersion methods
• Consistent results across daily brewing styles
