CRAFTSMAN Groove Joint Pliers 8" & 10" 2-Piece Set — Drop-Forged Steel, Bi-Material Grips

This pair of groove joint pliers combines durable construction with ergonomic details so you can tackle gripping, twisting, holding and light cutting tasks without switching tools repeatedly. The set contains an 8-inch and a 10-inch plier, each designed with multiple jaw positions to handle different pipe and fastener sizes. Whether you’re working on plumbing, carpentry, electrical wiring, automotive repair or general maintenance, these pliers deliver predictable performance and comfort under repeated use.

How do these pliers stay reliable on tough jobs?

The pliers are drop-forged for improved strength and toughness, and the jaws are precision-machined to ensure accurate tooth engagement with materials. That combination reduces slippage and wear, giving a longer service life when used for gripping and turning tasks. The joint mechanism allows quick adjustment to different widths while maintaining firm bite pressure.

• Drop-forged steel body for impact resistance and longevity
• Precision-machined jaws for consistent grip and reduced rounding
• Adjustable groove-joint positions for multiple diameter ranges

What comfort features help during extended use?

Ergonomics are addressed with multi-zone, bi-material grips that separate contact zones for comfort and control. Softer grip areas cushion the hand while firmer zones improve torque transfer, lowering fatigue during longer tasks. The handle shape also gives a secure hold when working in greasy or wet conditions.

• Bi-material construction for soft touch and firm control zones
• Contoured handles reduce hand stress during repetitive use
• Textured grip surfaces for secure handling in slippery conditions

Which tasks and trades benefit most from this set?

The 8" and 10" sizes cover a broad range of common workshop and jobsite needs, from small nuts and fittings to larger pipes and hose clamps. They’re suitable for carpentry, mechanical and plumbing chores, electrical work, and general household or industrial maintenance. The pair offers quick adaptability so you don’t have to reach for a different tool mid-job.

• Plumbing: gripping and turning pipes, fittings, and hose clamps
• Electrical & mechanical: holding, bending, and repositioning parts
• DIY & MRO: versatile for assembly, repair, and maintenance tasks

How should I choose between the 8" and 10" plier for a job?

Use the 8" plier when space is limited or when you need finer control on smaller fasteners; pick the 10" when you need greater reach or leverage on larger fittings. Many users keep both nearby so they can switch instantly depending on access and required torque. The groove joint design makes stepping between widths fast and secure.

• 8-inch: tighter spaces, small nuts, and precision grip work
• 10-inch: increased leverage, larger diameter pipes, and longer reach
• Both: complementary sizes for a complete basic plier set
