DEWALT 45.4 L Poly Wet/Dry Vac DXV12P — 5.5 HP Shop Vacuum, Cartridge Filter & Tank Drain

The DEWALT DXV12P is a 12-gallon poly wet/dry vacuum with a 5.5 HP motor designed to handle large workshop and jobsite clean-ups reliably and efficiently.

Built for contractors, hobbyists, and busy workspaces, this DEWALT shop vacuum combines a roomy tank with jobsite-ready features like rubberized casters, a long power cord, and onboard accessory storage. It arrives ready to tackle both wet spills and dry debris with a provided cartridge filter for fine particles and a drain for fast liquid removal. The bright yellow housing improves visibility on a crowded bench or work area, while the reinforced handle and large rear wheels make transport straightforward.

What kind of cleaning performance can I expect from the DEWALT DXV12P?

This vacuum uses a high-output 5.5 peak-horsepower motor that delivers strong suction for common shop tasks—sawdust, drywall dust, liquids, and larger debris. It’s intended for heavy-duty, intermittent duty typical of jobsite and garage environments rather than continuous industrial operation. The included cartridge filter captures small dry particles, and the unit can switch to wet mode without the filter installed.

• 5.5 peak HP motor for powerful pickup of dust, chips, and liquids
• 12-gallon tank reduces emptying frequency during large jobs
• Cartridge filter for fine dry debris; removable for wet vacuuming
• 2.5-inch interior hose diameter for strong air flow and fewer clogs

How does the DXV12P make jobsite mobility and setup easier?

This model is built to move around a workplace without hassle: large rear wheels and swiveling rubberized casters allow smooth directional changes while a robust top handle and compact footprint simplify lifting and loading. A 20-foot cord gives extended reach from a single outlet, and the on-board accessory bag keeps nozzles and wands organized so you’re not hunting for parts mid-task.

• Large rear wheels plus swivel casters for nimble movement
• Ergonomic handle for one-handed carrying and lifting
• Built-in 20' power cord with wrap for extended reach and neat storage
• Accessory bag stores hoses, nozzles, and adapters on the unit

What practical features help with wet pickup and maintenance?

When dealing with liquids, the DXV12P simplifies disposal with a molded tank drain so you can empty collected water or coolant without tipping the drum. The large, water-resistant power switch reduces the chance of accidental moisture damage, and the poly tank wipes clean quickly after use. For wet work you remove the cartridge filter; for dry work the filter snaps in to contain fine dust.

• Built-in tank drain for safe, mess-free liquid disposal
• Water-resistant on/off switch suited to damp conditions
• Poly construction resists corrosion and is easy to clean
• Filter removable for wet pick-up and reinstalled for dry debris control

Can the DXV12P handle specific shop tasks like blowing out dust or large pickups?

Yes—the vacuum includes a blower port for converting suction into a directed air stream to clear work surfaces, sawdust, or tight areas. The wide hose diameter and generous tank volume make it suitable for collecting larger volumes of debris from cutting, sanding, or routine shop cleanups, minimizing interruptions to your workflow.

• Blower function clears benches, saws, and work areas quickly
• 12-gallon capacity accepts large pickups before emptying
• 2.5" hose reduces clogging from bulky debris
• Durable housing works in rugged jobsite conditions

Who this is for: The DEWALT DXV12P is aimed at tradespeople, small shop owners, and DIYers who need a rugged wet/dry vacuum that balances strong suction with portability. It’s well-suited for garages, contractor trucks, and light commercial spaces where intermittent heavy pick-ups, liquid spills, or dusty operations are common. If you want a visible, dependable vacuum that keeps accessories organized and moves easily around a busy site, the DXV12P fits that role.
