Door Buddy Cat Door Latch & Stopper — No-Cut Adjustable Strap for Cats, 0–6" Gap with Foam Stopper

Door Buddy Cat Door Latch & Stopper is an adjustable, no-cut strap that holds interior doors ajar for cats while keeping dogs and kids out—no cutting, tools, or bulky gates required.

If you want to give your cat freedom to move between rooms without installing a permanent pet door or wrestling with a large gate, this simple strap-and-stop system offers an easy solution. Made in the USA, the Door Buddy uses a strong 3M adhesive, an adjustable tensioner, and a foam stopper so you can set a controlled gap for your cat. It works on many interior door types and is designed to be installed without tools, leaving doors undamaged and reversible when you no longer need the access control.

How does Door Buddy let my cat pass while keeping dogs out?

The strap anchors to the door and frame, creating a secure latch that holds the door open just enough for a cat to slip through. An adjustable slider tightens the strap to exactly the gap your cat needs, and the foam stopper prevents the door from closing suddenly. Designed to resist pulling, the system is strong enough to deter most dogs when installed correctly.

• Adjustable opening range from 0 to 6 inches to fit most cats
• High-strength 3M adhesive for durable mounting without screws
• Foam door stopper prevents accidental slamming
• Recommended installation positions for increased dog resistance

Is installation really tool-free and safe for my interior doors?

Yes — Door Buddy installs using industry-grade adhesive tape that bonds to painted wood and many finished surfaces, so no drilling or cutting is required. The system is intended for solid door surfaces and should not be mounted on drywall. If you need extra security for determined dogs, you can mount the strap on the door’s interior face for greater leverage.

• No screws, no saw, no permanent door alterations
• Simple peel-and-stick application using strong 3M tape
• Installation guide included with placement tips
• Removeable without damaging most finishes when removed properly

Which door styles and household setups are compatible?

Door Buddy is designed to work with a wide variety of interior doors, including hinged, bifold, pocket, sliding, and even double doors when positioned correctly. It’s most effective on doors that have a standard frame and a finished surface for the adhesive to grip. For unusual door materials or very heavy doors, evaluate placement and consider mounting on the door face instead of the jamb.

• Works on hinged, bifold, pocket, sliding, and double doors
• Adjuster adapts to different door thicknesses and gaps
• Not recommended for drywall-only mounting
• Installation tips for heavier doors included

How do I customize the opening and maintain durability over time?

Fine-tune the strap by sliding the adjuster until the door gap matches your cat’s size. The strap flexes to allow easy passage while the latch keeps larger animals out. Over time, the adhesive may need refreshment; replacement adhesive strips are available to restore full bond strength without replacing the whole unit.

• Adjustable slider for precise gap control
• Strap flexes to accommodate cats moving through comfortably
• Replaceable adhesive strips extend product life
• Foam stopper helps protect tails and prevents slamming
