First Alert SMICO100-AC Hardwired Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm, Interconnectable with Battery Backup

The First Alert SMICO100-AC is a hardwired, interconnectable smoke and carbon monoxide alarm with battery backup that combines Precision Detection technology for reliable early alerts.

Designed for homes that want a single, efficient device to detect both smoke and carbon monoxide, the SMICO100-AC blends updated sensing performance with easy installation. It meets current industry standards, reduces false alarms from routine cooking, and can be linked with other compatible alarms so the whole household receives an alert if danger is detected. The included battery backup ensures the unit continues to operate during power outages.

How does this unit detect smoke and carbon monoxide in one device?

The SMICO100-AC integrates separate sensing elements tuned for smoke particles and CO gas, allowing it to monitor both hazards continuously. Its Precision Detection logic helps distinguish nuisance events like normal cooking smoke from genuine threats so you get fewer false alarms while maintaining sensitivity to real dangers.

• Dual sensors: optical or photoelectric-style smoke sensing combined with an electrochemical CO sensor
• Precision Detection reduces nuisance triggers from everyday cooking
• Meets updated industry standards for mixed-hazard alarms

Can I interconnect multiple alarms throughout my home?

Yes — the SMICO100-AC supports hardwired interconnection so when one compatible alarm activates, all interconnected units will sound. This early warning network increases the chance that occupants in other rooms or on different floors will hear an alarm and respond quickly.

• Works with other compatible First Alert hardwire alarms for whole-home notification
• Interconnect wiring relays alarms instantly across connected units
• Quick Connect Plug simplifies linking units without complex rewiring

What makes installation and maintenance straightforward?

Installation is simplified by the Quick Connect Plug, which reduces the need to rewire while connecting to house power. The unit also includes a replaceable battery for backup power and a combined Test/Silence button that allows quick verification and temporary hush during nuisance alarms.

• Quick Connect Plug speeds up installation in standard electrical boxes
• Battery backup keeps the alarm working during outages
• Test/Silence button provides easy testing and temporary alarm mute

How reliable is the alarm during power loss or maintenance?

The SMICO100-AC uses a battery backup to maintain detection when household power is interrupted, ensuring continuous protection. Routine testing via the Test/Silence button and following the manufacturer’s replacement schedule for the unit and batteries keeps performance dependable.

• Battery backup supplies power during electrical outages
• Regular testing ensures sensors and alarm circuits are functional
• Follow First Alert guidelines for battery and unit replacement for best performance

Who is this for: Homeowners, landlords, and renovators seeking a single, code-compliant device to monitor both smoke and carbon monoxide will benefit from the SMICO100-AC. It’s well suited for new builds, retrofits, and multi-level homes where interconnectivity, reduced nuisance alarms, and continued operation during power failures are priorities.
