Fiskars Pro IsoCore 3.63 kg Splitting Maul 36" — 3.63 kg head, shock-absorbing handle for easier one-strike splits

The Fiskars Pro IsoCore 8 lb Splitting Maul is a 36-inch splitting axe engineered for taller users to deliver powerful, shock‑absorbed swings that split medium to extra‑large logs with fewer strikes.

This heavy‑duty maul combines a purpose‑shaped steel head, optimized blade geometry, and Fiskars' IsoCore shock‑absorbing handle to increase blade penetration while reducing vibration and hand strain. The 36" handle gives added leverage for taller operators, and the razor‑sharp edge and inseparable riveted head are built to last in yard, campsite, and firewood tasks. Ideal for one‑strike splits on seasoned wood, the tool also ships with a protective sheath and is backed by Fiskars' lifetime warranty.

How does this maul make splitting large logs easier?

The design focuses weight and momentum into an 8 lb head with blade geometry that forces wood apart on impact, reducing stuck blades and follow‑up strikes. The long handle increases swing speed and leverage, letting you transfer more energy into each blow.

• 8 lb head provides high-impact force for big rounds
• Advanced blade geometry improves penetration and wood separation
• 36" handle increases leverage and swing arc for taller users

Will the IsoCore handle reduce hand fatigue and overstrike damage?

Yes—IsoCore is a multi‑layer shock‑absorbing handle system that dampens vibration and lowers peak shock on contact. The textured, non‑slip grip improves control and helps prevent accidental overstrikes, so you split more wood with less hand and wrist strain.

• Shock‑absorbing core reduces vibration transfer to hands
• Textured grip enhances control in wet or sweaty conditions
• Reduced overstrike risk protects both tool and user

How durable is the Fiskars splitting maul for frequent outdoor use?

The head is steel with an inseparable riveted connection to the handle for long‑term reliability, and the blade steel is heat‑treated to hold an edge longer than many traditional axes. Fiskars designs these tools to withstand repeated splitting and to be simple to maintain when used as intended.

• Riveted head prevents separation under heavy use
• Sharpenable, hardened blade for extended edge life
• Includes protective sheath to guard the edge and safe storage

What safety and maintenance steps should I follow?

Use proper eye and foot protection and swing in a clear area free of obstacles. Keep the blade covered when not in use, periodically inspect the head‑to‑handle joint, and sharpen the edge as needed to maintain efficient splitting.

• Wear gloves, safety glasses, and sturdy boots during use
• Store with included sheath and away from moisture to prevent corrosion
• Resharpen blade with appropriate files or stones for peak performance
