Gingbau Foldable Humane Squirrel Trap - Heavy-Gauge Galvanized Live Animal Cage 17.3x7.4x8.2

The Gingbau Foldable Humane Squirrel Trap is a collapsible, heavy-gauge live-capture cage designed to safely trap and release medium-small wild animals like squirrels and small rabbits.

This cage offers a reusable, metal-mesh solution for homeowners and property managers who want to remove nuisance wildlife without harming the animal. Built from galvanized iron and engineered to fold flat for storage, the unit balances durability with portability. It includes a trigger pedal mechanism and comes with setup guidance to ensure reliable catches when placed and baited correctly.

How do I set up the Gingbau trap so it triggers reliably?

Proper alignment during unfolding is essential: the frame and trigger rod must connect cleanly to the pedal so the door can snap shut. Review the supplied manual and watch the setup video for an illustrated walkthrough before first use.

• Unfold fully and straighten the frame so corners align.
• Check that the trigger rod sits through the pedal slot with no obstruction.
• Test activation with a stick to confirm the door closes smoothly.
• Use pliers to tighten any loose buckles if the folding joints feel slack.

Which animals can this trap safely hold, and which it cannot?

The Gingbau cage is sized for squirrels, small rabbits, weasels and similar-sized animals; the one-inch mesh keeps most chewers out. It is not suitable for mice or very small chipmunks, which can slip through openings or be too light to trip the pedal.

• Cage interior: 17.3" x 7.4" x 8.2" — fits small mammals.
• Mesh hole size: 1 x 1 inches — not mouse-proof.
• Not recommended for animals under the pedal’s activation weight.
• Folded for storage: 20" x 7.9" x 1.6".

What maintenance or tweaks improve performance over time?

Because the design folds, repeated collapsing can loosen buckles and joints. Periodic checks and simple reinforcements like zip ties or pinching loose clips with pliers will restore tightness and protect the trigger action.

• Inspect buckles after several folds and pinch loose ones with pliers.
• Add zip ties or thin iron wire to secure the rear door if needed.
• Try different baits and place small bait pieces just outside the door to lure animals in.
• Store flat and dry to avoid rust and preserve the galvanized finish.

How should I use the trap most effectively and humanely?

Place the trap where you’ve seen animal activity and bait it to guide the animal onto the trigger plate. Always test the mechanism before leaving the cage unattended and check local wildlife rules for legal release requirements.

• Set on flat ground near runways, feeders, or burrow entrances.
• Place small pieces of bait inside and a few just outside the entrance.
• Test with a stick before placing bait and leaving the trap overnight.
• Secure doors with an extra zip tie or wire to prevent accidental opening during transport.

Who is this for: The Gingbau Foldable Humane Squirrel Trap is aimed at homeowners, gardeners, small-farm operators, and pest technicians who prefer a live-capture, non-lethal method for managing medium-small wildlife. It suits anyone needing a durable, space-saving trap that can be stored flat and reused season after season, provided users follow setup instructions and local wildlife guidelines.
