iRobot Roomba Plus 405 Robot Vacuum & Mop with AutoWash Dock — 2-in-1, Self-Empty & LiDAR Mapping

The iRobot Roomba Plus 405 (G181) is a 2‑in‑1 robot that vacuums, scrubs and auto‑washes its mop pads while self‑emptying into a dock for hands‑off floor care.

Combining powerful suction, spinning DualClean mop pads and an AutoWash Dock, the Roomba Plus 405 is built to manage everyday dirt, pet hair and sticky spills with minimal input from you. ClearView LiDAR maps your home quickly so the robot covers each zone methodically, while sensors prevent falls and collisions. The dock handles debris disposal and rinses, dries, and refreshes mop pads so the robot returns ready for the next job.

How does the Roomba Plus 405 tackle both vacuuming and mopping in a single run?

This model offers selectable cleaning modes—vacuum, mop, combo, or vacuum first then mop—so you can match performance to the mess. When moving from hard floors to carpet, the mop pads automatically lift to avoid wetting rugs. The robot pairs a multi‑surface rubber brush and edge sweep brush for debris pickup with spinning mop pads and SmartScrub for extra downward scrubbing power.

• Four cleaning modes: vacuum, mop, combo, and sequential vacuum‑then‑mop.
• Auto‑lifting mop pads to protect carpets and rugs.
• 70x more suction versus Roomba 600 series for deeper debris extraction.
• DualClean Mop Pads plus SmartScrub for tougher spots.

What maintenance does the AutoWash Dock perform for the robot and mop pads?

The AutoWash Dock is designed to reduce hands‑on upkeep: it self‑empties collected debris into a replaceable bag and repeatedly rinses, washes, and dries the mop pads after cleaning cycles. The dock also runs an internal self‑clean process to minimize residue buildup, and can store weeks of dirt and multiple mopping cycles before you need to change the bag or refill supplies.

• Auto‑emptying captures up to 75 days of debris in a disposable bag.
• Dock rinses and dries mop pads after each session for hygienic storage.
• Self‑clean cycle clears dock internals to reduce manual cleaning.
• Estimated multi‑week capacity for mopping and pad washing under normal use.

How smart is the navigation and how can I control cleaning routines?

ClearView LiDAR builds accurate floor plans quickly so the robot can cover rooms efficiently and return to missed spots. The Roomba Home app allows room‑by‑room scheduling, Clean Zones and Keep Out Zones, as well as suction level selection and mop pass frequency. Voice assistants are also supported so you can start or pause cleaning hands‑free.

• LiDAR mapping for fast, precise home layouts and effective coverage.
• Roomba Home app for scheduling, zone targeting, and filter health insights.
• Works with Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri‑enabled devices for voice commands.
• Customizable suction levels and repeat mopping in high‑traffic areas.

Who is this for: The Roomba Plus 405 (G181) is ideal for busy households that want a single robot to handle both vacuuming and mopping—especially homes with pets, high foot traffic, or mixed floor types. It suits users who prefer minimal maintenance: the AutoWash Dock reduces manual washing and the self‑emptying feature limits how often you need to empty the bin. If you want smarter navigation, app control, and an automated pad‑washing workflow, this model brings those capabilities together in a modern, space‑friendly design.
