KILMAT Car Sound Deadening Mat 50 mil 4.6 m² — Butyl Foil Soundproofing for Doors, Floors & Trunk

KILMAT 50 mil 50 sqft is a self-adhesive butyl and foil sound-deadening mat designed to cut road noise, reduce rattles, and improve in-car audio performance.

This sound-deadening kit includes 50 square feet of 50 mil (1.3 mm) thick butyl-backed material laminated with foil, supplied as 47 manageable sheets for DIY fitting. It’s engineered to add mass and damping where vehicles transmit road, engine, and road-tire noise into the cabin; the foil face helps reflect heat while the butyl core absorbs vibration. Lightweight for its thickness, KILMAT balances effectiveness with ease of handling and cutting.

How thick is this material and why does thickness matter?

The KILMAT mat is 50 mil (1.3 mm) thick — a common professional-grade thickness that provides strong vibration damping without excessive bulk. Thicker material increases mass and reduces panel resonances, improving both low-frequency noise control and overall acoustic clarity.

• Nominal thickness: 50 mil (1.3 mm)
• Weight: 0.35 lbs per sqft (approx. 1.75 kg per sqm)
• Effective for doors, floors, trunks, and roof panels

How do I install KILMAT in my car?

Installation is straightforward for DIYers: cut sheets to fit, peel the adhesive liner, press in place, and roll the foil surface until the embossing is smooth. The product’s strong butyl adhesive sticks to clean, dry metal and composite panels; rolling out the embossed foil confirms full contact and a professional bond.

• Sheets sized ~250 x 400 mm for easy trimming and placement
• Press-and-roll method secures adhesive to panels
• Embossing smoothness acts as a visual installation indicator

How much coverage do I get and where should I apply it?

This kit covers roughly 50 square feet (4.7 sqm), provided as 47 sheets sized about 9.8 x 15.7 inches. Prioritize large flat panels that transmit vibration — floor pan, inner door skins, trunk floor, and the roof — and use full or partial coverage depending on noise sources and budget.

• Total coverage: 50 sq.ft (4.7 sqm)
• Number of sheets: 47; nominal sheet size 9.8 x 15.7 in (250 x 400 mm)
• Recommended spots: doors, floors, trunk, firewall patches

Will this product reduce rattles and improve audio?

Yes — by adding mass and damping to vibrating panels, KILMAT reduces rattles and panel resonance that muddy audio. It won’t change speaker power but creates a quieter acoustic environment so speakers perform closer to their design, giving clearer bass and midrange response.

• Targets panel resonance and mechanical rattles
• Improves in-cabin listening clarity without electronics
• Also provides a thermal-reflective foil surface for heat control

Who is this for: KILMAT 50 mil 50 sqft suits car owners, audio enthusiasts, and installers who want a professional-quality, easy-to-handle sound deadening solution. It’s practical for full-vehicle treatments or selective spot applications to suppress specific noises and enhance audio performance. Use it when you need a durable, self-adhesive butyl mat that confirms correct installation visually and offers a strong balance of weight, thickness, and manageability for DIY or professional installs.
