Kingsyard Squirrel-Proof Hanging Bird Feeder — 1.36 kg Capacity, Powder-Coated Metal, Weight-Activated Shield

Kingsyard Squirrel Proof Hanging Bird Feeder is a weight-activated outdoor feeder that automatically closes feeding ports when heavy critters climb on, protecting seeds for songbirds.

Built from powder-coated metal and designed for easy refills and cleaning, this hanging bird feeder keeps seed fresh and accessible to small wild birds while discouraging squirrels and larger pests. Its transparent seed chamber shows remaining seed at a glance, and the wide-mouth opening makes topping up a simple, spill-free task. The feeder fits standard hanging hardware and blends practical durability with a bird-friendly feeding layout.

How does the squirrel-proof system work?

A weight-activated shroud senses the weight of an animal on the feeder and slides down to block all feeding ports when a heavy visitor—like a squirrel—climbs on. Small birds are light enough to feed while the shield stays open. This mechanical action requires no batteries or electronics, reducing maintenance and failure points.

• Weight-activated metal shroud that moves downward under heavier loads
• All ports close simultaneously to deny access to larger animals
• Passive mechanical design—no power source or complicated parts
• Allows small songbirds to perch and feed uninterrupted

Is it durable enough for year-round outdoor use?

The feeder is constructed from sturdy metal with a rust-resistant powder coating that stands up to rain, sun and chewing by persistent pests. Its components are designed for repeated use and cleaning without warping or cracking like some plastics. The finish helps prevent corrosion and keeps the unit looking neat across seasons.

• Powder-coated metal body resists rust and weathering
• Chew-resistant materials to discourage gnawing by squirrels
• Solid construction for hanging on patios, trees, or eaves
• Designed for year-round use in varied climates

How easy is refilling and cleaning?

The feeder holds up to three pounds of mixed seed and features a wide-mouth opening for quick, spill-free refills. A removable base releases with a simple press-button mechanism so you can clear seed residue and clumps without tools. The transparent reservoir lets you monitor levels and avoid unexpected empty days.

• 3 lb capacity accommodates most seed blends and reduces refill frequency
• Wide-mouth top for fast, tidy filling
• Tool-free removable base for fast cleaning and maintenance
• Clear seed compartment to check levels at a glance

Which birds will use this feeder and where should I hang it?

This feeder attracts small to medium songbirds such as finches, chickadees and cardinals when filled with mixed seeds. Hang it from a sturdy branch, shepherd’s hook or a window bracket at least a short distance from cover where squirrels can launch—this improves the squirrel-proof mechanism’s effectiveness and gives birds a safe feeding spot. Position it where you can enjoy watching without disturbing visitors.

• Works well for finches, chickadees, cardinals and similar species
• Best hung on a sturdy branch, hook, or near a window for viewing
• Place away from nearby jump-off points to reduce squirrel attempts
• Ideal for gardens, patios, balconies, and backyard birdwatching stations
