LeapFrog Yum-2-3 Toaster interactive pretend-play toaster for toddlers, 9-piece set with songs and pop-up action

The LeapFrog Yum-2-3 Toaster is an interactive pretend-play kitchen toy that teaches numbers, colors and basic vocabulary while kids press, pop and serve breakfast.

Brightly colored and built for little hands, the Yum-2-3 Toaster turns make-believe mealtimes into an early learning moment. This compact toy combines tactile play with simple audio prompts: slide bread into the slot, push the lever and listen as songs, counting and opposites reinforce foundational concepts. With nine realistic play pieces and cheerful pop-up action, the toaster encourages independent exploration, social role-play and fine-motor practice for toddlers from about 12 months onward.

How does the Yum-2-3 Toaster teach counting and colors?

Three food buttons offer structured, repeatable prompts that introduce numbers, counting and colors through short phrases and songs. Each press links a visual food cue to a spoken label so youngsters connect words and concepts while playing.

• Three numbered food buttons for one, two, three learning sequences
• Color-focused prompts paired with food pieces to reinforce hue recognition
• Short songs and phrases that repeat content for memory and language building

What pretend-play pieces are included and how do they encourage imagination?

The set includes nine durable, toddler-safe pieces that let children assemble a full pretend breakfast and role-play serving, cutting and sharing. Handling these accessories supports fine-motor skills and vocabulary expansion as kids name items and act out simple routines.

• Two toast slices, a jelly jar with lid, fried egg and bacon for realistic breakfast combinations
• Plate plus plastic knife and fork to practice serving and utensil use
• Pieces sized for small hands to encourage stacking, sorting and pretend feeding

How does the pop-up and dial interaction help toddlers learn cause and effect?

Pushing the toast down and watching it pop up teaches action-result relationships in a clear, satisfying way. The toast dial also introduces opposites—like up/down—helping toddlers grasp simple comparison words through play.

• Lever mechanism demonstrates immediate feedback and predictable outcomes
• Pop-up action paired with music keeps engagement high and supports repetition
• Toast dial offers vocabulary about opposites and settings for guided discovery

What should caregivers know about safety, batteries and age suitability?

The toy is designed for toddlers 12 months and older with rounded, chunky pieces to reduce choking risks and encourage independent handling. It requires two AAA batteries; demo batteries are included but swapping to fresh batteries is recommended for regular use.

• Recommended age: 12+ months for developmental appropriateness
• Requires 2 AAA batteries; demo batteries included only
• Durable, toddler-friendly parts and smooth edges for safer play
