Loctite Threadlocker 243 Blue 50 ml — Medium-Strength, Oil-Tolerant

Loctite 243 Blue is a medium-strength, oil-tolerant threadlocker designed to lock and seal threaded fasteners while allowing future disassembly with hand tools.

Designed for general-purpose industrial and maintenance use, this 50 mL tube of Loctite 243 (blue) combines reliable thread locking with improved tolerance to light oils and machining residues. It cures anaerobically between metal parts to help resist vibration loosening, leaks, and corrosion, yet it remains removable with standard wrenches or impact tools when necessary. The 3/4" thread compatibility and compact 1.69-ounce size make it convenient for mechanics, technicians, and hobbyists who need a dependable adhesive that balances permanence and serviceability.

How does Loctite 243 prevent fastener loosening?

Loctite 243 forms a polymerized bond between mating metal surfaces, filling gaps and immobilizing threads to reduce movement from vibration and thermal cycling. It cures in the absence of air and in contact with metal, creating a seal that also resists fluid infiltration along the thread.

• Medium-strength formulation permits later disassembly with hand tools
• Blue color gives visual confirmation of application
• Anaerobic cure between metal parts locks threads and fills voids
• Helps prevent corrosion by sealing threaded interfaces

Can I use this on oily or pre-assembled fasteners?

Yes — Loctite 243 offers improved oil tolerance, which means it can cure on as-received fasteners that have light machining oils or residues. For optimal performance, heavy contamination or gross oil should be wiped away, but the product is formulated to tolerate typical shop conditions better than standard threadlockers.

• Oil-tolerant curing allows application without perfect cleaning
• Works on pre-assembled parts in many maintenance scenarios
• Not intended for heavily contaminated or non-metal surfaces
• Improves uptime by reducing disassembly and cleaning steps

What thread sizes and materials are compatible with this tube?

The 50 mL package is suitable for a wide range of metal fasteners, and the product performs well on standard steel and plated surfaces. The listed 3/4" thread reference indicates common thread fitment; always confirm that the threadlocker strength and fastener grade meet your assembly and service requirements.

• Compatible with steel, stainless steel (with activator), and plated fasteners
• Appropriate for standard imperial and metric threads in maintenance tasks
• 3/4" thread compatibility for many mechanical applications
• Size and tube volume convenient for workshop and field use

How do I apply and remove Loctite 243 safely?

Apply a drop or two to the male threads where they will be engaged; assemble and torque to specification. Wipe away any excess before curing. To remove, use standard hand tools or controlled heat and impact methods if higher service temperatures have increased bond strength.

• Apply sparingly to male threads; assemble and torque normally
• Clean up uncured excess with a rag or solvent per safety instructions
• Removal usually possible with hand tools; heat can assist stubborn joints
• Follow Loctite safety data sheet for ventilation and skin contact guidance

Who is this for: Loctite 243 Blue 50 mL is suited for maintenance technicians, industrial assemblers, automotive mechanics, and DIYers who need a reliable medium-strength threadlocker that tolerates typical shop oils and allows future disassembly. If you require a balance between secure locking and serviceability for metal fasteners in vibration-prone equipment, this product is an economical, easy-to-store solution.
