Moen Posi-Temp 1222 Single-Handle Replacement Cartridge — Chrome OEM, Restores Temperature Control & Stops Leaks

The Moen 1222 Posi-Temp single-handle replacement cartridge restores stable, smooth temperature control and flow in compatible Moen shower valves.

If your Moen Posi-Temp shower valve is leaking, sticking, or failing to hold a steady temperature, swapping in a genuine Moen 1222 cartridge is a straightforward repair that brings back dependable performance without replacing the entire valve. This OEM cartridge is designed to fit a wide range of Moen single-handle Posi-Temp shower trim kits and is built to the same standards that made Moen a leading faucet and shower manufacturer.

Will the Moen 1222 cartridge fix my leaking or dripping shower?

Yes — worn internal seals and damaged cartridge components are common causes of leaks in single-handle Posi-Temp valves. Replacing the old cartridge with a new Moen 1222 often stops leaks and reduces drips by restoring the internal sealing surfaces and operating parts.

• Direct OEM replacement for many Moen Posi-Temp valves
• Replaces worn seats and seals that cause leaks
• Stops dripping without replacing the entire valve body

How does this cartridge affect temperature stability?

The 1222 cartridge is engineered to work with Moen’s Posi-Temp pressure-balancing valve design to maintain steady water temperature during pressure changes. While it doesn't change your hot/cold settings, a healthy cartridge helps prevent sudden scalding or cold bursts when other fixtures are used.

• Restores pressure-balancing responsiveness
• Reduces temperature swings caused by plumbing pressure changes
• Works with existing Moen Posi-Temp trim and handles

Is installation something I can do myself, and what tools are needed?

Many homeowners can replace the 1222 cartridge with basic tools in an hour or less. You’ll need to shut off water, remove the handle and trim, extract the old cartridge, and install the new one using common plumber tools and the included O-rings. If valve body damage is present, consult a professional.

• Typical tools: screwdriver, cartridge puller or pliers, adjustable wrench, silicone lubricant
• Turn off water supply and open lines to relieve pressure before starting
• Follow manufacturer steps for seat/retainer inspection and reassembly

Which Moen models and trims are compatible with the 1222 cartridge?

The 1222 cartridge fits many Moen single-handle Posi-Temp shower valve assemblies across a wide range of Moen trim collections. Verify compatibility with your valve model or consult Moen documentation to confirm fit before purchasing. Using the correct OEM cartridge helps ensure proper operation and preserve any existing trim or handle finishes.

• Designed for Moen Posi-Temp single-handle valves

• OEM part reduces risk of fitment or performance problems
