North American Rescue HyFin Vent Chest Seal Twin Pack — 2 vented adhesive chest seals with gauze

The North American Rescue HyFin Vent Chest Seal Twin Pack provides two individually packaged, vented adhesive seals engineered to manage penetrating chest wounds by preventing inward airflow while allowing trapped air and fluids to escape.

When penetrating chest trauma risks an open or tension pneumothorax, a reliable chest seal is a critical component of immediate care. The HyFin Vent Chest Seal uses a patented three-channel vent design and advanced adhesive to work in challenging conditions—blood, sweat, or body hair—so rescuers can apply a durable seal quickly. Each twin-pack contains two seals in rugged foil pouches, allowing treatment of both entry and exit wounds or storage of a spare for later use.

How does the HyFin vent design control airflow around a chest wound?

The HyFin uses three parallel vent channels that prevent air from being drawn into the chest during inhalation while permitting air and fluid to exit during exhalation or when burping the wound. The multi-channel layout offers redundancy: if one or two channels become blocked, the remaining channel(s) continue to vent.

• Three vent channels for one-way pressure relief
• Channels allow blood and air to escape, reducing trapped pressure
• Redundant design maintains function even if partially obstructed

What makes the adhesive reliable in real-world rescue situations?

Advanced adhesive technology and a transparent backing combine to create a strong seal on uneven or contaminated skin. The adhesive is formulated to adhere despite moisture, sweat, and body hair, and the clear backing helps position the seal precisely over the wound before final application.

• High-tack adhesive engineered for wet or hairy skin
• Transparent backing enables correct placement and contouring
• Large red pull tab simplifies single-step peel-and-apply use

How is the HyFin Vent Chest Seal packaged and used in the field?

Each seal is individually sealed in a compact, rugged foil pouch that resists damage in packs and kits. The twin-pack configuration lets first responders treat both an entry and exit wound immediately or keep a spare sealed and sterile for later use. Gauze is included to wipe the wound site before application.

• Two seals per foil twin pack for entry/exit wounds or spare storage
• Includes gauze pad for wound prep to improve adhesion
• Easy-open pouch and single-step red tab for rapid application

When and why would a responder choose this chest seal over others?

Responders select the HyFin Vent Chest Seal when a vented, redundant pressure-relief solution is needed and when conditions are less than ideal—outdoors, during transport, or on contaminated skin. The combination of multiple vent channels, strong adhesive, and compact twin packaging supports rapid, dependable intervention.

• Vented option for suspected open or tension pneumothorax scenarios
• Designed for harsh environments and fast application under stress
• Twin pack offers treatment flexibility and an immediate spare
