Onyx General Purpose Boating Life Jacket - Blue Adult Universal, USCG-Approved Lightweight Buoyancy

The ONYX General Purpose Boating Life Jacket is a U.S. Coast Guard–approved, open-sided personal flotation vest designed to fit most adults comfortably while providing lightweight, reliable buoyancy.

This classic ONYX vest combines straightforward design with practical features that make it a go-to choice for recreational boaters, anglers, and watersports enthusiasts who want a dependable, affordable flotation option. Built with durable flotation foam, adjustable straps, and a high-visibility blue shell, the jacket balances comfort and safety without unnecessary complexity. It’s offered in multiple sizes to outfit families, with universal and oversize adult options to suit a wide range of torso measurements.

How does the ONYX vest stay secure during activity?

The jacket uses quick-release buckles and 1-inch adjustable belts across the waist and chest to lock the vest in place and prevent it from riding up. Large armholes and an open-sided layout allow freedom of movement while maintaining coverage, and the adjustable straps make fit customization fast and reliable.

• Quick-release buckles for fast donning and removal
• 1" adjustable belts to tailor fit to chest size
• Chest strap reduces upward migration during movement
• Open sides and large armholes for unrestricted motion

What sizes and fit ranges are available and who will they work for?

ONYX offers this design in infant, child, youth, adult universal, and adult oversize, so you can outfit multiple family members with the same style. The Adult Universal fits chests from 30" to 52" and is intended for people over 90 lbs; the Oversize covers 40" to 60" chests and also suits those over 90 lbs.

• Infant, child, youth, adult universal, adult oversize sizing
• Adult Universal: 30"–52" chest, 90+ lbs
• Adult Oversize: 40"–60" chest, 90+ lbs

How does the jacket perform on the water and in different conditions?

The ONYX vest is made with lightweight, durable closed-cell foam that provides steady buoyancy for recreational boating and general water activities. Its open-sided design and breathable materials help reduce heat retention during warm-weather use while remaining functional in a variety of non-extreme environments.

• Durable flotation foam engineered for consistent buoyancy
• Open-sided cut for ventilation and reduced bulk
• Bright blue shell improves visibility in daylight
• Suitable for boating, fishing, kayaking, and shore activities

What maintenance and care keep the vest in good condition?

Rinse the vest with fresh water after exposure to salt or chlorinated water and let it air dry away from direct sunlight to preserve materials and color. Inspect buckles, straps, and foam for damage before each use and replace the vest if you find cracks, compressed foam, or broken fasteners.

• Rinse with fresh water after salt or pool exposure
• Air dry in shade to avoid UV degradation
• Regularly check buckles, seams, and flotation foam
• Replace if foam is compressed or hardware is damaged
