Outward Hound Nina Ottosson Tower of Treats dog puzzle toy 12.5" — Level 4 expert, layered treat feeder

The Nina Ottosson Tower of Treats is a 12.5" Level 4 expert treat puzzle from Outward Hound that challenges dogs to unlock layered compartments, spin, slide, and flip pieces to earn food rewards.

This multi-tiered enrichment toy is designed for dogs that have outgrown basic puzzles and need a harder mental workout. Built to stimulate natural foraging instincts, the Tower of Treats turns mealtime or snack time into an engaging problem-solving session. Constructed from food-safe materials and simple to clean, it offers adjustable difficulty so owners can tailor the challenge to their dog’s skill level.

How does the Tower of Treats keep my dog mentally engaged?

The toy forces dogs to sequence actions and use scent, pawing, nosing, and paw coordination to uncover treats. Because dogs must complete tasks in order across several layers, the puzzle promotes sustained attention and active problem-solving rather than quick, repetitive motions.

• Multiple interactive elements: drawers, spinning wheel, sliding doors, and flip levers
• Layered design requires sequential unlocking for rewards
• Adjustable difficulty — start with layers unlocked and increase challenge
• Intended to prolong play and reduce quick-scavenge behavior

Is the Tower of Treats safe and easy to maintain?

The puzzle is made from BPA-, PVC-, lead-, and phthalate-free plastics and contains no removable small parts, reducing ingestion risk. Its components are accessible for wiping or rinsing, which helps keep the toy hygienic when used with food or soft treats.

• Food-safe construction for peace of mind
• No detachable pieces that can be swallowed
• Simple to clean by hand with mild soap and water
• Durable design suitable for repeated daily use

What size of dog is the Tower of Treats suitable for and how do I introduce it?

Although built as an expert-level puzzle, the Tower of Treats works for small, medium, and large dogs; adjust play by locking fewer layers at first. Introduce the toy slowly: allow your dog to explore with all compartments open, then gradually increase the complexity as they learn the mechanics.

• Recommended for dogs that have learned Level 3 puzzles or show advanced curiosity
• Begin with all layers unlocked so your dog discovers locations of treats
• Increase difficulty by locking layers or using smaller treats
• Monitor new players to ensure safe, confident use

How can the Tower of Treats fit into my dog’s daily routine?

Use the tower to extend mealtime, reduce idle time, or provide focused activity when you can’t supervise high-energy behaviors. Short puzzle sessions deliver concentrated mental effort that can complement physical exercise and help redirect attention away from unwanted behaviors like excessive chewing or barking.

• Serve part of a meal inside the puzzle to slow eating
• Offer quick sessions during alone time to reduce boredom
• Rotate difficulty and treats to maintain novelty and challenge
• Combine with walks and play for a balanced activity plan

Who is this for: The Tower of Treats is aimed at experienced puzzle solvers and curious dogs of any size who need an extra cognitive challenge. Ideal for owners wanting to enhance enrichment, slow fast eaters, or occupy intelligent pets with a durable, food-safe puzzle that scales in difficulty as their dog improves.
