OXO GreenSaver Produce Keeper — Large White 4.73 L with Natural Carbon Filter & Adjustable Vent

Packed produce or sealed plastic bags trap moisture and ethylene gas, which accelerates spoilage. The OXO GreenSaver system uses a natural, coconut‑based activated carbon filter plus a ventilated lid and raised basket to control humidity and airflow, helping produce stay crisp longer while cutting food waste.

How does the carbon filter slow down ripening?

The included all‑natural activated carbon filter captures ethylene, a plant hormone released by many fruits and vegetables that speeds ripening. By reducing ethylene within the keeper, the filter helps moderate the environment so items don’t overripen as quickly.

• Natural coconut‑based carbon media absorbs and traps ethylene.
• Filter designed to last up to 90 days before replacement is needed.
• Easy-to-replace refill filters are available separately.

What role does the elevated basket and vent play?

The removable basket lifts produce off the container’s bottom to prevent moisture pooling and improve airflow around items. The sliding vent on the lid lets you adjust humidity to match different produce types so leafy greens and root vegetables each have better storage conditions.

• Elevated basket doubles as a colander for rinsing and draining.
• Vent open for lower humidity, closed for higher humidity depending on produce.
• Handles on the basket make removal and serving simple and tidy.

Which foods fit best in the 5‑quart GreenSaver?

The 5 qt (4.7 L) size is tailored for longer or mid‑sized vegetables and smaller fruit clusters. It’s ideal for items that benefit from airflow and gentle humidity control without taking up too much refrigerator space.

• Great for carrots, cucumbers, celery, zucchini and scallions.
• Also suitable for small heads of leafy greens or herbs when not overcrowded.
• Compact footprint fits most refrigerator shelves and crisper drawers.

How do I maintain the GreenSaver Produce Keeper?

Cleaning is straightforward: the container and basket are dishwasher safe, and the filter should be replaced about every three months for optimal performance. OXO provides reminders and replacement filters through the GreenSaver program.

• Dishwasher‑safe body and removable basket for easy cleaning.
• Swap filters every ~90 days; refills sold separately at greensaver.oxo.com.
• Follow the lid’s illustrated guide for humidity recommendations by produce type.
