Perky-Pet Squirrel-Be-Gone hanging seed bird feeder, 907 g capacity — weight-activated squirrel guard, clear tube

The Perky-Pet Squirrel-Be-Gone Bird Feeder is a 2 lb capacity hanging seed feeder engineered to block squirrels by automatically closing feeding ports when a heavy intruder lands.

This roomy outdoor feeder combines visible seed storage, weather-resistant metal construction, and a weight-triggered guard to let backyard birdwatchers offer seed to a wide range of songbirds while minimizing squirrel theft. Its powder-coated finish resists rust, the clear reservoir lets you see seed levels at a glance, and U-shaped perches make it comfortable for small birds to feed. Designed for ease of use and durability, the Perky-Pet Squirrel-Be-Gone is a practical addition to gardens and patios where keeping seed for birds — not pests — is the priority.

How does the squirrel-blocking mechanism work?

The feeder uses a weight-sensitive perch and metal frame that sense when a heavy animal lands; this triggers the feeding ports to slide closed so squirrels cannot access the seed. Small birds under the weight threshold can continue feeding uninterrupted, while heavier intruders are shut out immediately.

• Weight-activated closure: ports shut when pressure exceeds bird-safe limits
• Metal frame triggers ensure fast, reliable activation
• Perches designed to hold small birds while deterring heavy pests

What capacity and seed types does it hold?

With a 2-pound clear reservoir, this feeder stores enough seed to reduce refill frequency while allowing quick visual checks. It accommodates a variety of dry seed blends preferred by songbirds, including sunflower chips, mixed seed, and safflower.

• 2 lb seed capacity for fewer refills
• Clear tube for instant seed-level monitoring
• Compatible with common birdseed blends and sunflower chips

Is the construction weather-resistant and easy to maintain?

The feeder is built from metal with a powder-coated finish to resist rust and hold up through seasons of outdoor exposure. Removable components simplify cleaning and seed replacement so you can keep the feeder sanitary and functioning well.

• Powder-coated metal resists rust and fading
• Durable hardware stands up to outdoor elements
• Simple disassembly for periodic cleaning and refilling

Where should I place the feeder for best results?

Hang the feeder in a visible, sheltered spot near trees or shrub cover where birds feel safe but where squirrels have limited launch paths. Keep it away from easy squirrel jump points and place at a height that encourages bird traffic while reducing access for ground-based pests.

• Hang near vegetation for bird comfort but away from close branches
• Mount at a height that reduces squirrel approaches from the ground
• Position for easy viewing from windows to enjoy avian activity

It's a good fit for homeowners, apartment balconies, community gardens, and anyone who prefers a durable metal feeder with visible seed capacity and an automatic deterrent to keep feeding time focused on birds rather than pests.
