Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Security Camera (Newest Model) — Black, Retinal 2K & Ultra-Bright Floodlights

The Ring Floodlight Cam (Wired, newest model) is an outdoor security camera with Retinal 2K video, ultra-bright motion-activated floodlights, and up to 6x enhanced zoom to monitor and deter activity around homes or businesses.

This wired Floodlight Cam combines high-resolution imaging, powerful illumination and two-way communication in a single, weather-resistant unit. Designed for exterior mounting, it records wide-angle footage while lighting large areas on motion, triggers alerts to your mobile device, and offers Live View so you can see and speak with visitors in real time. Optional Ring Protect subscription features cloud recording and intelligent alerts for replay and deeper event context.

How clear is the video and what does 2K Retinal quality actually show?

The Floodlight Cam captures wide-angle Retinal 2K video that preserves more detail than standard 1080p cameras, helping you identify faces, vehicles and license plates at closer ranges. Image quality can vary with bandwidth and device temperature, but the higher resolution gives a sharper baseline for zooming and playback.

• Retinal 2K wide-angle sensor for enhanced detail
• Up to 6x Enhanced Zoom to focus on specific objects
• Optimized low-light performance when paired with floodlights
• Video quality dependent on internet speed and device conditions

How do the floodlights and motion detection work to deter intruders?

Motion-activated ultra-bright floodlights turn on when activity is detected, visibly illuminating the area to discourage unwanted behavior and improve recorded footage. You can set sensitivity zones and schedules in the Ring app so lights activate only for relevant motion, reducing nuisance triggers.

• Ultra-bright LEDs for large-area illumination
• Customizable motion zones and sensitivity settings
• Lights and camera trigger mobile alerts simultaneously
• Siren can be triggered remotely from the app to scare off intruders

Can I install it myself and how does it connect to my devices?

The Floodlight Cam is a hardwired unit intended to replace existing wired outdoor lights and includes step-by-step setup in the Ring app for a DIY install. If preferred, Ring offers professional installation services; once installed it connects to your home Wi-Fi to stream video, send alerts and integrate with other Ring devices.

• Wired power — replaces existing exterior lighting fixtures
• Guided setup through the Ring mobile app for Wi‑Fi connection
• Option to hire a professional installer via Ring services
• Works with Live View, Two-Way Talk and mobile push notifications

Do I need a Ring Protect plan and what features does it add?

A Ring Protect plan is optional but unlocks cloud recording, event history and intelligent alerts so you can review footage after an incident. Without a subscription, you still receive live alerts and can use Live View, but recorded clips and timeline history require the paid plan.

• Cloud video storage for reviewing and downloading clips
• Event history with easy timeline navigation in the app
• Enhanced intelligent alerts and people/vehicle detection (plan-dependent)
• Subscription sold separately through Ring

Who is this for: The Ring Floodlight Cam (Wired, newest model) is aimed at homeowners and small business owners who want a permanent, high-resolution outdoor security solution that combines bright, motion-triggered lighting with AI-enhanced video and two-way communication. It's well suited for properties that need broad-area illumination, clear recorded detail for identification, and integration with a larger Ring security ecosystem.
