Urnex Dezcal Coffee & Espresso Descaler 900g Powder — Fast, Odourless Scale Remover for Boilers & Steam Wands

Urnex Dezcal is a concentrated, powder descaler designed to quickly dissolve limescale from coffee and espresso machines, kettles, and milk system components without the strong vinegar smell.

Hard water deposits build up inside boilers, heating elements, spray heads and piping, reducing performance and altering brew temperature. Urnex Dezcal uses an activated formula in powder form that dissolves mineral scale faster than household vinegar, is easy to measure, and rinses clean. The 900 g (31.7 oz) bottle supplies multiple descaling cycles for home or small commercial machines and is compatible with a wide range of brands and models.

How do I use Dezcal to descale my espresso machine?

Mix the powder precisely for best results: combine 1 ounce (about 28 g) of Dezcal per 32 ounces (1 quart / ~1 L) of water in the machine’s reservoir or suitable container. Run the machine’s descaling program or cycle water through the boiler, steam wand, and group head until the solution has passed through, then flush thoroughly with fresh water.

• Dosage: 1 oz per 32 oz (28 g per 1 L) of water
• Run full descaling cycle or manual flush for non-programmable machines
• Rinse by running multiple full tanks of clean water
• Descale steam wand separately if heavy buildup is present

Will Dezcal work with my coffee maker or Keurig-style brewer?

Yes — the formula is formulated for universal compatibility. It safely removes scale from drip machines, single-serve pod brewers, super-automatics, kettles, and many commercial groups when used as directed, but always consult your equipment manual for manufacturer-specific instructions.

• Suitable for Keurig, Nespresso, Breville, Jura, DeLonghi and more
• Effective on boilers, heating elements, internal tubing and spray heads
• Powder format adapts to reservoirs of different sizes
• Check machine manual for recommended descaling intervals and steps

How does regular descaling with Dezcal improve coffee taste and equipment life?

Limescale insulates heating elements and obstructs water flow, preventing machines from reaching optimal brewing temperatures and consistent pressure. Removing scale restores thermal efficiency and flow, helping flavors extract more predictably and reducing strain on pumps and valves, which extends component lifespan.

• Restores correct brewing temperature and consistent flow
• Reduces risk of pump strain, valve failure, and heating element damage
• Helps maintain consistent extraction and beverage flavor
• Odorless formula avoids residual vinegar scent

Is Dezcal easy to store and measure for repeat use?

The powdered form makes dosing straightforward and minimizes spills compared with liquids. The resealable bottle keeps the contents dry and stable between uses, and the concentrated formula covers many descaling cycles so you won’t need to reorder frequently.

• Powder allows precise measuring and less waste
• Resealable 900 g bottle for multiple uses
• Store in a cool, dry place away from children and pets
• Odorless and dissolves quickly in warm water

Who is this for: Urnex Dezcal is aimed at home baristas, office kitchens, and small cafés that need an effective, easy-to-use descaler compatible with a range of coffee and hot-water equipment. It’s a good choice if you want faster, odor-free descaling than vinegar provides, if you keep espresso machines, pod brewers, kettles or super-automatic machines in regular use, or if you’re maintaining equipment in hard-water areas.
