Vitamix 1.42 L Stainless Steel Blender Container — Self-Detect Compatible, BPA-Free Lid, Dishwasher-Safe

The Vitamix 48-ounce stainless-steel blender container is a compact, dishwasher-safe replacement jar that creates the signature Vitamix vortex for small- to medium-batch smoothies, soups, and frozen treats.

This 48 oz stainless-steel container is built to fit full-size Vitamix machines and adds the convenience of SELF-DETECT compatibility with Ascent and Venturist Series blenders. Its non-reactive stainless interior resists stains and odors, so hot, cold, or acidic recipes won’t pick up flavors or discolor the jar. Laser-cut stainless-steel blades and a low-profile tamper deliver reliable texture control, while the clear BPA-free lid and ergonomic handle make monitoring and serving simple. Whether you want to blend single-serve smoothies, small family meals, or concentrated sauces, this container is designed to reduce waste and save counter space.

How does this container make small-batch blending easier?

The 48-ounce capacity is sized for one to a few servings without requiring a full-size pitcher, so you can make the right amount without excess. Its tapered design helps form the Vitamix vortex to pull ingredients into the blades for consistent results even on lower volumes.

• Perfect capacity for smoothies, dressings, sauces, and small soups
• Tapered walls promote efficient circulation and even texture
• Low-profile tamper helps process thick or frozen mixtures quickly

Will the SELF-DETECT feature work with my Vitamix base?

When attached to Ascent or Venturist Series blenders, the container’s SELF-DETECT technology communicates with the machine so compatible units show the correct preset and container size. With other full-size Vitamix blenders, the container functions normally but without automatic SELF-DETECT adjustments.

• Ascent and Venturist: automatic recognition and preset adjustments
• Other full-size Vitamix models: fully compatible but manual settings required
• Fits standard Vitamix drive couplings for secure attachment

How does stainless steel help with stains, odors, and hot ingredients?

Stainless steel is non-porous and non-reactive, so it won’t retain pigments or smells from beets, turmeric, or garlic. It also tolerates hot liquids—blend warm soups without worrying about container damage or flavor transfer.

• Odor- and stain-resistant interior for long-term freshness
• Safe for hot, cold, and acidic preparations
• Durable metal build reduces long-term wear versus some plastics

How easy is cleaning and daily use?

The stainless container and BPA-free clear lid are dishwasher-safe, and you can use a quick self-clean cycle or a soap-and-water blend to restore it in 30–60 seconds. The clear lid permits visual monitoring, and the ergonomic handle plus no-drip spout makes pouring mess-free.

• Dishwasher-safe parts for hands-off cleanup
• Self-cleaning program or 30–60 second soap-and-water blend works well
• Clear lid and ergonomic handle simplify monitoring and serving

Who is this for: Home cooks and small households who want a compact, durable Vitamix container for small-batch blending—ideal for smoothie lovers, meal preppers, and anyone who needs a stain- and odor-resistant jar that fits under cabinets. It’s also a smart choice for owners of Ascent or Venturist Series blenders who want automatic SELF-DETECT convenience, plus it remains compatible with all full-size Vitamix bases for wider flexibility.
