Happy Wings Finch Blend Bird Food 2.27 kg — Thistle (Nyjer) & Hulled Sunflower Kernels, High-Oil Energy Mix

Happy Wings 5 LB Finch Blend combines premium thistle (nyjer) and hulled sunflower kernels to attract a wide variety of finches and small songbirds.

This 5-pound blend is formulated to draw colorful finches and many other backyard birds by offering high-oil, high-protein seeds that support active, energetic wild birds. Packaged after USDA- and BRC-GS-approved processing and quality checks, the mix is heat-treated and non-germinating to keep feeders and surrounding areas tidy. It meets standards set by the Wild Bird Feeding Institute and the Food Safety Modernisation Act, making it a dependable choice for birdwatchers wanting to increase visits from species like goldfinches, siskins, chickadees, and cardinals.

What species will this finch blend attract to my feeder?

Designed around thistle (nyjer) and hulled sunflower kernels, the blend appeals to a broad range of small seed-eating birds. Expect frequent visits from finches and other songbirds that prefer oil-rich seeds, plus occasional buntings and doves that sample the kernels.

• Common visitors: goldfinches, purple finches, house finches, and siskins.
• Also attractive to: chickadees, titmice, cardinals, and mourning doves.
• Works well in tube seeders, mesh sock feeders, and tray platforms designed for small seeds.

How does the seed mix support bird health and feeding behavior?

The combination of thistle and hulled sunflower kernels provides concentrated fats and proteins that birds use for energy and feather maintenance, especially during migration and colder months. Kernels are hulled to reduce waste and make the nutrients more accessible, while the small nyjer pieces let finches cling and feed naturally.

• High oil content supplies quick energy for active songbirds.
• Protein supports muscle and feather condition without fillers.
• Hulled kernels reduce hull litter and make feeding easier for small-billed species.

Is this product easy to use and keep clean around feeders?

Yes — the seeds are specially processed to be non-germinating, so spilled seed won't sprout into unwanted plants around your yard. Heat treatment and facility-level safety checks reduce contaminants and help maintain a cleaner feeding area compared with untreated bulk seed.

• No-growth seeds prevent volunteer seedlings near feeders.
• Heat-treated in USDA- and BRC-GS-approved facilities for consistent quality.
• Suitable for nyjer feeders, mesh socks, and shallow trays to minimize mess.

How should I store and serve the 5 LB bag for best results?

Keep the bag in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve oils and freshness. Use within a reasonable timeframe after opening to prevent rancidity; transfer seeds into a sealed container if you plan to store them for longer periods.

• Store in airtight containers to preserve oil content and deter pests.
• Refill small-capacity feeders frequently to avoid mold or spoilage.
• Rotate feeding stations and clean feeders periodically to maintain hygiene.

Who is this for: Happy Wings 5 LB Finch Blend is ideal for backyard birdwatchers, gardeners, and nature educators who want an easy-to-use, high-energy seed mix to invite finches and other small songbirds. It's suited for people using nyjer or small-seed feeders and those who prefer heat-treated, non-germinating seed processed under recognized quality standards. Choose this mix if you want clearer feeding areas, consistent seed quality, and frequent visits from colorful wild birds without the fuss of heavy hull mess or sprouting seed.
