Kaytee Ultimate Nut & Fruit Wild Bird Seed Mix 4.42 kg — Safflower, Striped Sunflower & Peanuts for Cardinals & Grosbeaks

Kaytee Ultimate Nut & Fruit is a premium 9.75 lb wild bird seed mix of safflower, striped sunflower, and peanuts designed to attract colorful songbirds like cardinals, grosbeaks, woodpeckers, and nuthatches to outdoor feeders.

Made by bird enthusiasts, this blend balances high-energy seeds and crunchy nuts to appeal to a wide variety of backyard species. The recipe prioritizes ingredients birds prefer — striped sunflower for fat and flavor, safflower for picky eaters, and shelled peanuts for protein — so you’ll see more frequent visits and a broader mix of species. Packaged for outdoor feeders, Kaytee Ultimate Nut & Fruit is intended strictly for wild bird feeding and pairs well with a clean feeder and nearby water source.

What bird species will I attract with this mix?

This formula is targeted to appeal to many common and colorful backyard birds. Larger sunflower and peanut pieces draw in cardinals, grosbeaks, and woodpeckers, while safflower seeds and millet attract finches, nuthatches, and sparrows. The result is a more diverse backyard audience throughout the year.

• Cardinals, Northern Flicker, Red-Bellied Woodpecker
• Evening Grosbeak, Rose-Breasted Grosbeak, Blue Jay
• American Goldfinch, Purple Finch, Pine Siskin
• Tufted Titmouse, White-Breasted Nuthatch, Chickadees

How should I use Kaytee Ultimate Nut & Fruit for best results?

Place the mix in platform, tray, or hopper feeders to showcase the larger nuts and sunflower pieces. Position feeders near trees or shrubs and close to a water source to encourage longer visits and provide shelter. Keep feeders clean and refill regularly, removing old or moldy seed before adding fresh food.

• Use sturdy platform or hopper feeders for larger pieces
• Mount feeders near cover and water for safety and visibility
• Clean feeders periodically and toss stale seed before refilling
• Refill when seed level is low to keep birds returning frequently

What are the key ingredients and nutritional benefits of this seed mix?

The blend emphasizes high-fat and high-protein components to support active wild birds. Striped sunflower provides rich fats and energy, safflower offers a mild alternative favored by some species, and peanuts add protein and crunch. Together they supply a mix of nutrients that help birds maintain energy for foraging and flocking.

• Striped sunflower: energy-dense, high fat content
• Safflower: mild-tasting seed favored by certain species
• Peanuts: protein-rich and appealing to woodpeckers and grosbeaks
• Small millet and grains: attract ground-feeding sparrows and doves

How do I store and handle the 9.75 lb bag safely?

Keep the unopened bag in a cool, dry place to preserve freshness and prevent pests. Once opened, reseal or transfer to a rodent-proof container to avoid spoilage and contamination. Rotate old seed out and use within a season for best attractiveness to birds.

• Store in a cool, dry, rodent-proof bin or sealed container
• Check seed for moisture or mold before use
• Use opened seed within one season for ideal freshness
• Dispose of clumped or foul-smelling seed promptly
