ORIJEN Six Fish Grain-Free Dry Cat Food, 1.81 kg — High-Protein WholePrey Recipe

This 4 lb bag of ORIJEN Six Fish Dry Cat Food is formulated to reflect the natural, meat-forward nutrition cats evolved to eat. Packed with whole fish, organs and bone, the recipe emphasizes fresh and raw-sourced marine proteins rather than plant fillers. The kibble is coated with freeze-dried liver for an instinctive burst of flavor, and the formula excludes added soy, corn, wheat and tapioca.

How does ORIJEN Six Fish provide protein compared to typical cat kibbles?

ORIJEN prioritizes animal-sourced ingredients, delivering a far higher proportion of protein from whole fish and raw inclusions than conventional dry foods. The formula lists six whole fish among its first ingredients, supplying complete amino acid profiles and dietary nutrients from muscle, organs and bone.

• Approximately 90% animal ingredients by composition
• Primary ingredients: whole mackerel, whole herring, flounder, Acadian redfish, monkfish, whole hake
• Includes organs and bone (WholePrey) to add natural vitamins and minerals
• Freeze-dried liver coating for added palatability

Is this recipe grain-free and what does that mean for my cat?

The ORIJEN Six Fish recipe is formulated without added grains, aiming to reduce reliance on cereals and starchy fillers. Grain-free here means the recipe omits added grain ingredients like wheat, corn and rice, focusing instead on nutrient-dense animal proteins and some fiber sources.

• No added soy, corn, wheat or tapioca in the recipe
• Produced in a facility that may also handle grains—cross-contact may occur
• Higher protein, lower carbohydrate profile compared with grain-based kibbles

What makes the WholePrey approach different and why does it matter?

WholePrey means the diet uses whole animal components—muscle, organs and bone—to better mimic the nutrients cats would obtain from whole prey in the wild. This approach supplies a broader nutrient matrix naturally, rather than relying solely on isolated supplements.

• Utilizes organs and bone to provide natural sources of vitamins and minerals
• Reduces need for synthetic nutrient additions by including whole-animal parts
• Supports flavor and texture variety through diverse fish species and freeze-dried liver

How should I introduce ORIJEN Six Fish to my cat and store it properly?

Transition gradually by mixing increasing amounts of ORIJEN with your cat’s current food over 7–10 days to help avoid digestive upset. Store the bag in a cool, dry place and seal tightly to preserve freshness; refrigerate or freeze any included fresh or raw ingredients per package instructions.

• Mix 25% new food on day 1, increasing to 100% over 7–10 days
• Keep kibble sealed and away from heat or direct sunlight
• Follow package guidance for handling refrigerated and frozen ingredient shipments

Who is this for: ORIJEN Six Fish WHOLEPREY is suited for cat owners seeking a biologically appropriate, fish-forward diet with high animal-protein content and minimal grain ingredients. It can appeal to cats that prefer marine flavors or owners looking for a kibble that emphasizes whole-animal nutrition, including organs and bone. If your cat has specific dietary restrictions or health conditions, consult your veterinarian to confirm this recipe fits their individual needs.
