Scotts EZ Seed Patch & Repair Bermudagrass 4.54 kg — Quick Bare-Spot Repair with Moisture-Retaining Mulch, Covers up to 20.9 m²

Scotts EZ Seed Patch & Repair Bermudagrass is an all-in-one patching mix with bermudagrass seed, expanding mulch, continuous-release fertilizer, tackifier and protectant to quickly fill bare spots up to 225 sq ft.

When a sun-baked or high-traffic area in your yard needs recovery, this 10 lb bag combines seed and practical growing aids to simplify repair. The formula is tailored for bermudagrass—known for heat and drought tolerance—and includes a super-absorbent mulch that expands to cradle seed and hold moisture. A tackifier minimizes wash-away on slopes or after heavy rain, while the built-in protectant and continuous-release lawn food support early seedling growth.

How do I use this product to repair a bare patch?

Repairing bare spots with EZ Seed follows three clear steps: prepare the soil, apply the mix, and water thoroughly. The mulch expands when wetted to create a moist microenvironment for seed, and the tackifier helps the mix stay put on sloped or vulnerable areas.

• Step 1: Remove dead grass, loosen compacted soil and clear debris.
• Step 2: Evenly spread EZ Seed so seed is visible but patch shows some bare ground.
• Step 3: Saturate the area until mulch stops absorbing water and turns darker brown.

When is the best time and temperature to sow Bermudagrass seed?

Bermudagrass seed in this mix performs best in warm conditions. Plant when daytime temperatures consistently fall between 70°F and 90°F and there is no risk of frost to encourage rapid germination and establishment.

• Ideal planting window: late spring through summer in most climates.
• Avoid planting before expected frost or during prolonged cool spells.
• Keep the surface moist until seedlings reach about 2 inches tall for best results.

What makes this mix suitable for tough lawns and slopes?

The product blends hardy bermudagrass seed with features that address common repair challenges: moisture retention, nutrient support, and erosion resistance. These components help seedlings establish in hot, dry, or high-traffic locations when given proper care.

• Super-absorbent mulch expands to retain water around seed particles.
• Continuous-release fertilizer supplies nutrients during early growth stages.
• Tackifier reduces seed wash-away on slopes or after heavy watering.

How much area does a 10 lb bag cover and what maintenance is needed?

A single 10 lb bag covers up to 225 sq ft when applied per instructions. After initial saturation, maintain a consistently moist surface until seedlings are established, then transition to standard watering and mowing practices for bermudagrass.

• Coverage: up to 225 sq ft per 10 lb bag when applied evenly.
• Watering: keep mulch surface moist; water lightly several times daily if needed until sprouts reach 2 inches.
• Aftercare: reduce frequency and increase depth of watering as grass matures; avoid heavy traffic until well rooted.
