Southern Ag Non-Ionic Surfactant for Herbicides, 3.79 L — 80% Active, Improves Coverage & Penetration

Southern Ag Surfactant for Herbicides is a non-ionic wetting agent that reduces water surface tension to improve herbicide coverage and penetration.

When you mix herbicides with water, droplets can bead up or run off leaves and stems, wasting product and leaving weeds untreated. This one-gallon (128 oz) bottle of Southern Ag non-ionic surfactant helps herbicide sprays spread more evenly across plant surfaces and promotes better contact with target foliage. Because it contains 80% non-ionic surfactant, it’s compatible with a wide range of post-emergent and pre-emergent herbicide formulations commonly used in lawns, landscapes, and agricultural settings.

How does the surfactant improve herbicide performance?

The surfactant lowers the surface tension of spray water so droplets flatten and spread rather than bead. That increased surface area helps herbicide droplets stick to leaves, increases coverage, and aids absorption or translocation depending on the herbicide used.

• Reduces water beading on waxy or hairy leaves
• Promotes uniform spray coverage across foliage
• Enhances penetration and contact of active ingredients

Which herbicides can I safely mix this with?

Southern Ag Surfactant is non-ionic and formulated for broad compatibility with many common herbicide products. It’s routinely used with mixes such as Trimec formulations, atrazine blends, brush killers, and 2,4-D amine, but always follow the herbicide label directions for adjuvant use and tank-mix compatibility tests.

• Works with many broadleaf and grass-targeted herbicides
• Suitable for post-emergent and certain pre-emergent mixes
• Perform a jar or small-plot test when mixing new chemicals

What application rates and mixing guidance should I follow?

Typical guidance is to add approximately 1 teaspoon of surfactant per gallon of spray solution for general use, or about 1 pint per 100 gallons for larger spray volumes. Rates can vary by herbicide product and target species, so consult the herbicide label and adjust based on spray volume and environmental conditions.

• Common homeowner rate: ~1 teaspoon per gallon of spray
• Bulk application rate example: ~1 pint per 100 gallons
• Mix into spray tank after herbicide and before agitation for even distribution

Are there handling, storage, or safety considerations?

Store the concentrate in a cool, dry place in the original container with the label intact. Use appropriate personal protective equipment when handling concentrated adjuvants and herbicides, and avoid runoff into sensitive areas or water bodies.

• Keep container tightly closed and upright when stored
• Wear gloves and eye protection during mixing and application
• Follow disposal instructions on the label for leftover concentrate and rinse water

Who is this for? Southern Ag Surfactant is designed for homeowners, landscape professionals, and agricultural applicators who want to improve the effectiveness of herbicide sprays. If you need better droplet spread, reduced runoff, and improved contact on difficult-to-wet foliage, this 128 oz non-ionic surfactant is a practical addition to your spray program — just remember to follow herbicide label directions and perform compatibility tests when combining products.
