Ticonderoga Laddie Tri-Write #2 HB Soft Triangular Wood Pencils, Intermediate 11/32" Ergonomic Grip

Ticonderoga Laddie Tri-Write #2 HB Soft is an intermediate-size, triangular wood-cased pencil designed to teach proper grip while delivering a smooth, broad writing line.

The Laddie Tri-Write pencil blends an ergonomically triangular barrel with a slightly slimmer diameter than beginner models so students can transition easily toward standard pencils. Built with premium real wood and a thick graphite core, these #2 HB Soft pencils produce bold, consistent strokes and sharpen cleanly. Available with or without a latex-free eraser, each pencil meets safety standards and is crafted for classroom durability.

How does the triangular shape help kids learn correct handwriting?

The three-sided profile encourages fingers to settle into a natural tripod grip, which promotes controlled strokes and reduces hand fatigue. For teachers and parents, the shape reinforces proper positioning without extra instruction.

• Triangular barrel guides thumb, index, and middle fingers into place
• Intermediate 11/32" diameter eases transition to standard pencils
• Improved control for neater printing and beginning cursive

What kind of line quality and performance can I expect?

These #2 HB Soft cores lay down a broad, smooth line suited to everyday schoolwork, worksheets, and standardized tests that require #2 pencils. The thicker graphite reduces skipping and makes shading easier for art or diagrams.

• Thick graphite core for bold, even marks
• Smooth writing with minimal drag or scratching
• Consistent performance across multiple sharpenings

Are these pencils durable and safe for classroom use?

Ticonderoga uses premium wood from responsibly managed sources so the pencils sharpen evenly and resist frequent breakage. They are PMA certified non-toxic and available with latex-free erasers to accommodate sensitivity concerns.

• Real wood casing for reliable, clean sharpening
• PMA certification ensures non-toxic materials
• Optional latex-free eraser available for allergy-safe use

How do these compare to beginner and standard-diameter pencils?

The Laddie Tri-Write sits between beginner-size and full-diameter pencils: slimmer than starter models but still offering the ergonomic benefits of a triangular shape. That intermediate sizing helps kids adapt gradually to the feel of a regular pencil while retaining improved grip control.

• 11/32" diameter — smaller than beginner pencils, larger than full-size writing grips
• Designed for medium-sized or grade-school hands
• Bridges the gap from grip training to standard pencils

Who is this for: Ticonderoga Laddie Tri-Write #2 HB Soft pencils are ideal for elementary students, occupational therapists, and teachers who want an ergonomic, dependable pencil that eases the transition to standard-sized writing tools. Choose these pencils if you need classroom-safe, consistently performing wood-cased pencils that support correct grip development and bold, smooth writing.
