CLOROX Pool&Spa Alkalinity Increaser for Swimming Pools, 7.26 kg Granulated Sodium Bicarbonate — Stabilizes pH, Fast-Dissolving

Clorox Pool & Spa Alkalinity Increaser is a granulated formula designed to raise and stabilize total alkalinity, helping keep your pool pH steady for easier maintenance.

Keeping alkalinity in the correct range prevents wild pH swings that force frequent chemical adjustments and can lead to scale or corrosion. This 16 lb pack from Clorox Pool & Spa dissolves readily and is formulated to be simple to apply, whether you maintain a chlorine or saltwater pool. Use it after filling a pool, after heavy rain or splash events, or whenever a test shows alkalinity is below the recommended range.

How does this product help maintain pH balance?

Raising total alkalinity acts as a buffer that reduces how quickly pool pH changes. By correcting low alkalinity first, pH holds more steadily and you need fewer corrective treatments. Regular testing and targeted dosing ensure a consistent swim environment with less chemical guesswork.

• Granulated sodium bicarbonate formula that dissolves quickly.
• Buffers water to slow pH drift after dosing.
• Works with chlorine systems and saltwater pools.

How much should I add and when is dosing needed?

Dosing depends on pool volume and current alkalinity level; follow test results to calculate precise amounts. Add small increments, retest after circulation, and repeat until the target alkalinity range is reached. Overdosing is avoidable by splitting the total amount into multiple applications.

• Test total alkalinity before adding product.
• Apply in increments, letting the pump circulate 4–6 hours between doses.
• Use Clorox Pool App for tailored dosage recommendations.

Is this product safe for my pool equipment and swimmers?

When used as directed, raising alkalinity helps protect metal parts and finishes by reducing pH-driven corrosion and scaling. Properly balanced water is gentler on liners, heaters, and metal fittings. The product itself is a typical pool-grade bicarbonate and should be handled per label instructions—keep chemicals dry and store away from children and pets.

• Helps minimize corrosion risk by stabilizing pH fluctuations.
• Reduces the frequency of aggressive chemical corrections.
• Standard safety precautions: avoid inhalation and skin contact.

How quickly will I see results after adding it?

The granules dissolve quickly and begin affecting alkalinity as the water circulates; many users see measurable changes after a single circulation cycle. For best accuracy, retest after 4–6 hours and adjust as necessary. Significant deficits may require two or more doses spaced over a day or two.

• Dissolves fast when broadcast near return jets during circulation.
• Retest alkalinity after 4–6 hours to confirm changes.
• Repeat small doses rather than one large addition for control.

Who is this for: Homeowners and pool service professionals who want a straightforward, granular alkalinity increaser to stabilize pH, protect equipment, and reduce maintenance time. It’s suitable for new fills, routine seasonal tuning, saltwater systems, and pools that use liquid chlorine. Pair it with regular testing—manual kits, strips, or the Clorox Pool App—to keep your pool water balanced and predictable.
