STEARNS Kids Life Vest Youth PFD 22.7–40.8 kg — Red Type III, 3 Quick-Release Buckles & Lightweight Foam

The Stearns Kids Life Vest is a USCG-approved Type III personal flotation device engineered to keep children 50–90 lbs buoyant, comfortable, and free to move during boating, swimming, and watersports. This youth PFD combines dependable flotation foam, a rugged nylon shell, and a contoured youth cut to deliver reliable buoyancy without restricting play. Designed by Stearns — a longstanding maker of life jackets — this vest balances safety features, quick adjustments, and bright colorways so caregivers can spot kids easily on lakes, pools, and beaches.

How does this life vest help my child move comfortably in the water?

The Stearns youth vest is cut and padded specifically for smaller torsos so children can paddle, kick, and reach with minimal restriction. Open sides and contoured arm openings increase range of motion compared with bulky all-around PFDs, making it easier for kids to learn and enjoy water activities.

• Open-sided design reduces rubbing and allows free arm movement
• Contoured arm openings prevent chafing during strokes and play
• Lightweight PE flotation foam keeps the vest flexible
• Youth-specific cut centers buoyancy where children need it most

What features ensure a secure fit for children 50–90 pounds?

Three quick-release, adjustable buckles let you fine-tune the fit so the vest sits snugly and won’t slip up or off when kids are active. The straps are easy to tighten or loosen onshore, and the low-profile design stays out of the way when children swim or climb aboard a boat.

• Three adjustable quick-release buckles for a customizable, secure fit
• Low-profile straps that stay put during movement
• Clear size range marking for 50–90 lb children
• Instructions included for correct fitting and safety checks

How does the material and construction stand up to everyday water use?

The outer shell is durable nylon that resists abrasion from docks and toys, while closed-cell PE foam provides long-lasting flotation that won’t absorb water. After use the vest rinses clean and dries quickly, so it’s ready for the next outing without retaining heavy moisture or odors.

• Durable nylon shell withstands rough play and frequent use
• Lightweight PE foam maintains buoyancy and resists water saturation
• Quick-dry materials make post-use care simple
• High-visibility red color improves on-water spotting

When and where is this life jacket appropriate to use?

This Type III PFD is suitable for supervised boating, swimming, pool play, beach days, and a variety of non-extreme watersports where a flotation aid is adequate. It’s intended for children within the listed weight range and should be used under direct adult supervision.

• USCG-approved for recreational boating and general water activities
• Ideal for lakes, calm coastal areas, pools, and shore-based play
• Not designed for rough-water self-rescue or whitewater kayaking
• Always follow included safety and fitting instructions
