Ziruma Acacia Wood Cutting Board 16x11 in — 1" Thick, Beeswax & Plant Oil Finish, Mineral Oil Free

Ziruma’s 16 x 11 inch acacia cutting board is a thick, responsibly sourced wood board finished with beeswax and natural oils—no mineral oil or PFAS—designed for durable food-safe prep and gentle knife care.

This board pairs hard-wearing acacia with a clean, plant-forward finish so you get a resilient prep surface without petroleum byproducts. At 1 inch thick and made from FSC-certified hardwood, it balances weight, stability, and natural moisture resistance for everyday chopping, carving, and serving. The finish uses unbleached beeswax plus nourishing plant oils rather than synthetic sealants, giving a food-contact-safe surface you can maintain at home.

How does the finish keep the board food-safe without mineral oil?

The Ziruma finish blends beeswax with flaxseed and lemon oil to condition and shield the wood. These natural components fill tiny wood pores and repel surface moisture while remaining safe for food contact. Because no petroleum-derived mineral oil or PFAS chemicals are used, the finish avoids long-lived synthetic residues.

• unbleached beeswax seals and smooths the surface
• flaxseed oil penetrates and nourishes the wood fibers
• lemon oil refreshes scent and provides light cleaning action
• no mineral oil, no PFAS—safer, plant-derived treatment

Will this board damage my knives or blunt their edges?

Acacia achieves a useful midpoint between very hard and very soft cutting surfaces, helping to preserve blade sharpness. The board’s surface gives slightly under pressure so knives cut cleanly without bouncing on an overly hard surface. Regular oiling with the included natural blend maintains the right texture and reduces deep, uneven cuts that dull blades faster.

• dense but slightly forgiving acacia hardwood
• smooth, conditioned surface minimizes blade friction
• 1-inch thickness prevents flexing that bites into edges
• recommended light refinishing when surface shows wear

How durable and sustainable is the wood used in this board?

The board is crafted from FSC-certified acacia, which means the wood comes from responsibly managed forests with traceability standards. Acacia naturally contains tannins and oils that increase resistance to moisture and staining compared with many softer woods. Its solid, single-piece construction and greater thickness mean fewer failures from warping or cracking over typical home use.

• FSC-certified hardwood for verified responsible sourcing
• natural tannins and oils improve moisture resistance
• solid 1-inch construction resists bending and splitting
• sturdy weight helps board stay put during prep

How should I care for this board to keep it performing?

Hand wash with warm water and mild soap; avoid soaking or dishwasher cycles. Dry upright and periodically apply a thin coat of a food-safe wax/oil mix to restore moisture and sheen. With simple maintenance it will resist cracking and retain a clean, attractive finish for years.

• wash by hand, no dishwasher
• dry standing on edge to prevent trapped moisture
• apply natural beeswax and oil when surface looks dry
• sand lightly only if deep cuts appear, then recondition

Who is this for: Ziruma’s acacia cutting board fits home cooks who want a long-lasting, responsibly sourced prep surface without petroleum-based finishes. It’s suited for people who value knife care, prefer natural products, and need a substantial, non-slip board for daily chopping, carving, and serving. If you want a thick, sustainably certified board finished with beeswax and plant oils rather than mineral oil or synthetic coatings, this board is a practical choice.
